Ugly Stick in the Press

Last weekend started out a bit rough. With all of the flooding going on, our show at June Dairy Days in Markesan was canceled. So we got on the phone with our good friends at Vandy’s Lakeside Pub and Hotel, to see if they would be willing to have us play for a last-minute show. It took a few more phone calls to see if there would be anyone that would show up, but not even a half-hour later, John and Pam (Vandy’s owners) called us back telling us that they wouldn’t mind having us. We love playing down in Markesan with you guys and after all of the bad weather, we thought you might like a night of partying and letting loose! We had a full house, and it was an incredible night, as it always is when we head down to Markesan! So, thank you very much to Vandy’s for the last-minute gig, for the over-night room, and again for just an all-out good time! Also, good job to the band “The Stoneheads” who opened for us that night! You guy’s really rocked, and we hope to play with you again sometime! Then on Saturday we lost our venue-virginity to Pik’s Pub up in Tomahawk. Once again, it was another night that can only be described as “off-the-hook!” We also introduced our new drummer, Brandon Allen, who will be taking over full-time for Chicken (Dan Kluck) in mid July. Good job on your first show, Brandon, and may there be many more to come!

I suppose you all want to know what’s up and coming for this weekend…well, we have a double-header at the Marathon Lanes Bowling Alley in Marathon City. Both Friday, June 20th, and Saturday, June 21st, we’ll be rocking out with everybody and their brother around the Marathon area! There’s supposed to be a soft-ball tournament taking place that weekend, and we were asked to come and show everyone a good time at the end of the evening! And since we’re pretty familiar with the Marathon crowd, we know it’s gonna be a hoppin’ and a boppin’! We’ll be striking the first chord sometime between 9:00pm and 9:30pm, so be ready to dance the night away!

Once again, the original drummer for Ugly Stick, Chicken (Dan Kluck), will be leaving the band in about one month (July 18th is his last show). So if you see him, make sure you let him know that he had a good run and that he will be missed. Ugly Stick wouldn’t be Ugly Stick if it wouldn’t have had a little bit of Chicken in it! Take care y’all…we’ll see you this weekend!

We know you guys haven’t heard much from us for about a month now, but we’re still around and ready to rock your world! First off, on Friday, the 13th of June, we’re going to be heading down to visit our friends and fans in Markesan to play at the June Dairy Day’s Festival! The original band “The Stoneheads” from around the area will be the opening act for us. They start playing at 8:30pm. So come check them out before we hit the stage around 9:30pm. We will also have Fish Audio and Hellfire Lighting working sound and lights for us again. The last time we worked with them they were awesome and made us sound and look great. Thanks in advance to Fish and Travis! We can’t wait to party with you guys again! Then on Saturday, June 14th, we’ll be heading up to Tomahawk to play at a new venue called Pik’s Pub. Once again the show starts between 9-9:30pm, and we’re anxious for you guys to show us that you know how to rock!

We will also be introducing a new member into the band at the Tomahawk show: Brandon Allen will be taking over as our new drummer boy. Our man, Chicken, (Dan Kluck) will be retiring in mid July after him and Brandon switch back and forth on shows for the next month to help break in the newbie. So we hope you all welcome Brandon with open arms and open intoxicants and give congrats Chicken on the job well done during his time with Ugly Stick! There will never be another Chicken like him!

So, there you have it. Now you know everything there is to know about the world of Ugly Stick…well, maybe not everything, but the things that you, the fans need to worry about! Anyways, keep your stick on the ice, and we’ll see you next time!

Hello to you all! We’re finally back in the game after an entire month of no shows! Our guitarist, Vance Powers, and his wife, Jennifer are the new proud parents of their now one-week-old son, Marshall Jackson Powers! Make sure that if you run into them that you congratulate them on their wonderful, life-changing achievement!

Back to business; we had an awesome time at our last couple of shows with the Corral Bar in Abbotsford, and at the Bakerville Sports Bar in Marshfield! You guys rock, and we can’t wait to have future bookings with you to continue on with the partying!

This upcoming weekend we will be heading to the outskirts of Mosinee to play at the one and only Halder Bridge Bar on Saturday, May 10th! We’re going to drop the bomb sometime between 9-9:30pm, so make sure you’re there with your drinks in hand and are ready to roll out the rock!

If you haven’t seen us for a while, make sure you come and check us out. We’ve been adding new songs to the set lists and have been getting a lot of positive feedback because of it! We also have a new sound man, Kevin McHugh…so you can blame him if we don’t sound good, ha ha!

We do still have a very few open dates left for this year of 2008, so be sure to check out our Contact page of the website if you are interested in having us rock your socks off

To all of you moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day! Take care, everyone, and we’ll see you when we see you…hopefully soon!

Here we are once again! We’ve recovered from the two incredible shows we played a couple of weekends ago. We had a great time rockin’ for the first time at Mikey’s in Plover, and we can’t wait for future bookings with them! We’d like to thank Billy from “Devil AM Radio” for letting us use his hi-hat stand during our show, and for Billy and Allan (Devil AM Radio) coming up and jamming with us on “Folsom Prison!” Also, we’d like to thank “Fish Audio Productions” and “Hellfire Lighting” for supplying us with their sound and light systems! You guys were awesome! The next day we played at the Double B Sports Bar in Owen, and they showed us just how much fun a little town can have! You guys were off the hook! And we would also like to note that we’ve added a full-time sound man to our group; Kevin McHugh, from the duo “Some Strings Attached.” Thanks for your help Crooked Nose!

Finally, here’s what we’ve got coming up this weekend. On Friday, April 11th, at 9:00pm, we’ll be bringing down the house at the Corral Bar in Abbotsford! This is our first time playing for you guys, and from what we’ve heard, we’re in for a good time! Then, on Saturday, April 12th, we head to Marshfield’s Bakerville Sport’s Bar! This is our first time rockin’ with you guys as well, and we can’t wait! We’ll be starting the show around 9:00pm, so be ready…we will be!

Get a hold of us ASAP to book us for a show! Check out the Contact page of our website!

Thanks to all of you who’ve booked us for this year! And thanks to you all who keep coming to see us show after show! We’ll see you next time!

A couple of weekends ago, we had a rockin’ good time celebrating St. Patty’s Day with all the patrons of the Hotchkiss’s Last Cast out in Stratford! Thank you to all of you who came out and partied with us and the leprechauns!

This weekend two venues will be losing their virginity to the Ugly Stick epidemic! We start out at the brand-spankin’ new Mikey’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill in Plover! The shockin’ and rockin’ will begin at 9:00pm on Friday, March 28th, so make sure you come out and help us show them what we’re made of! Then on Saturday, March 29th, we head out to Owen to start a new tradition with the Double B Sports Bar! We’re sure we’ll see all of you locals from that area out there, and we know you love to rock! So when 9:00pm rolls around, let’s make sure we’re all ready to show them what they’ve gotten themselves into!

We still have a few Friday nights open in our schedule for this year. Be sure to book us as soon as possible if you’d like to rock around the clock with us!

None of this would be possible without you: our family, friends, and fans! Thanks to all of you, and we’ll see you on the flip side!

We had an awesome time once again playing down at Leahy’s in Markesan a couple of weeks ago! Thanks to you all for another awesome turn-out, and a special thanks to Vandy’s for once again letting us crash after the gig! Then last weekend we partied it up with Shooter’s in Plover for their anniversary celebration! More good times were shared by all!

Now we’re here, and this Saturday, March 15th we travel to Stratford to celebrate St. Patrick’s day at Hotchkiss’s Last Cast! We’ll be casting off at about 9:00pm, so have your green beer in hand and be ready to rock out with your Ugly Stick out!

Remember to book us asap if you want us to come play for you!

Thanks to all of our wonderful fans, and we can’t wait to see you all soon! Happy St. Patty’s Day!
